THANK YOU — Sunday School

A great big THANK YOU to everyone who came out for Sunday School Registration yesterday! It was a blessing to have all of God’s children in the chapel for a time of fellowship. We are excited to have this new method of registering everyone for Sunday School, and we look forward to this upcoming Sunday School year!

Parenting Sunday School Class

Bethesda will have a Parenting Class for Sunday School beginning Sunday, August 29th. It will be a 12-week course lead by Carolyn Beaty. The class will be based on The Essentials of Discipline by Dr. James Dobson.  The topics include Why Your Child Needs Discipline, Irresonsibility vs. Defiance, Anger vs. Action, Finding Balance in Discipline, To Spank or Not to Spank, Compliant vs. Defiant, Changing Discipline as Your Child Grows, Protecting the Spirit, The Strong-Willed Adolescent, and The Ultimate Priority. Parents with children and youth of all ages are encouraged to attend. If you have any question, please see Katie Atcheson.

Home Coming Sunday – August 15th – Sunday School Registration

Sunday School Registration will be in the Chapel this Sunday from 9:45 to 10:30am.  Everyone is asked to come enjoy donuts, coffee and juice and register for Sunday School.  There will not be regular classes this week.  (All classes, all ages)

Remember, this Sunday is Home Coming here at Bethesda.  OUR SERVICE WILL BEGIN AT 10:45am sharp!

If you have ever been in the Chancel Choir, we invite you to join us this Sunday at 10:15 in the choir room for a quick rehearsal of “Heaven Medley”.  We would love to have all choir members back in the choir all the time, but at least for this Sunday.

Bring your friends, family, neighbors, and former members.  We have a great service planned.  Immediately following service we will have a covered dish lunch in the fellowship hall.  Bring plenty of food to share!

Exciting Sunday School Program Kick-Off

On August 15 we will have Sunday School Registration in the Chapel for everyone (babies, children, youth, young adults, adults).  We will have Donuts, Coffee and Juice during the Sunday School hour 9:45am – 10:45am that day. We hope that you take this time to visit and get acquainted with those you do not know.  There will not be regular Sunday School this day.

We would like to remind everyone (especially those teaching) that Sunday School is 9:45 – 10:45 each week.  It is very important that you dismiss your class promptly at 10:45am so that everyone has a chance to get to the 11 o’clock service on time.  Parents, please note this change:  Beginning August 22nd all of the children will go to the Chapel at 10:30am for a short dismissal program so you will pick up your child at 10:45am from the chapel instead of their classrooms.

The Children’s Sunday School Class will be on the order of Vacation Bible School but it will be called Staycation.  We are sure that this will be new and exciting for your children, so please make every effort to have them at Sunday School every week.  We guarantee you they will love this new program!

Thank you for your continued support to Bethesda UMC Sunday School

FootSteps Sunday School Class

This week we will take a look at some of the misinterpreted Scriptures in the Bible. Many Christians do not realize that some of the most popular translations do not accurately convey the true meaning of the Hebrew and Greek scriptures. Please join us as we take a closer look! There is always hot coffee, so see you on Sunday!

Open Hearts Class

On Sunday the Open Hearts Class will begin a new study, “Spiritual Warfare”. “Throughout the Bible, Christians are warned to prepare for spiritual warfare. But as we look around us on a typical Sunday morning, everything looks as quiet and peaceful as it did before the attack on Pearl Harbor. Yet if we want to avoid a spiritual version of Pearl Harbor, we need to take the Bible’s warnings seriously. So in this study we are going to ask and answer three crucial questions: Who is our real enemy? What is their plan of attack? And how can we defend ourselves in battle and be victorious?”

We would like very much for you to join us at 10:00 on Sunday morning.

Carolyn Beaty

Join us as we continue in the book of Acts 17-20.  It’s great that we have such an awesome pastor; we also may have good teachers and listen to a speaker teaching about the Bible.  But how do we know if what we are hearing is the truth?  This week we are going to focus on the importance of why it is so important to dust off that Bible and read it for ourselves.  Won’t you join us?  Always coffee and something to eat!
