Hello Everyone!
Handbells will resume Wednesday rehearsals this week right after Chancel Choir practice. We will continue to work on Anthems for the rest of this month in choir, and of course Heaven Medley for this Sunday. That’s always such a fun song to sing, and I’m looking forward to it! I’ve also got some neat pieces for the Cherub Choir to start singing on Wednesday nights, so I hope you kids plan on attending our short choir time after supper.
It’s great to be back up in Atlanta, and thanks again to Alicia for the wonderful job she did in my absence. We’re truly blessed that she is able to step up and help out like she does.
I’ll see you all on Wednesday evening!

We have added a button on our website to make it easy to send your offering to Bethesda via the Internet. You will find the donation button in the sidebar about halfway down the right column of every page on the website. Our online payments are handled by PayPal. If you already have a PayPal account, you can use it to pay your offering using this button. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you can use a regular credit or debit card instead. The church is charged a small fee from each payment made with a credit or debit card, so you may want to adjust your offering accordingly. The fee works out to $0.85 for a $25 donation, $1.40 for a $50 donation and $2.50 for a $100 donation.
The payment process is fairly straightforward and should be familiar to you if you have done any online shopping. Just in case, here are the steps to follow:
- Click on the ‘Donate’ button. This will take you to the PayPal site.
- You will see a warning about secure and unsecure items. The unsecure item is the banner image at the top of the page. Click ‘Yes’ to see the banner or ‘No’ to leave the banner blank.
- Enter the amount you wish to donate, then click ‘Update Total’.
- Use your PayPal account, or click ‘Continue’ near the bottom of the page where it says, “Use your credit card or bank account.”
- Fill in your name, address, phone number and credit card information, then click ‘Review Donation and Continue’.
- If you wish to specify a designated fund for your offering, click “Add special instructions for the Merchant” and write the name of the fund you wish to donate to.
- Click the “Donate $XX.xx Now” button.
- Return to Bethesda’s website. You will receive an e-mail confirming your donation.
That’s all there is to it. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,

Hello all! I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start. I had to leave immediately following the service yesterday in order to sing the Star Spangled Banner with my students at the Braves game, so I didn’t get a chance to talk to you all about the music yesterday morning.
It was wonderful having everyone there yesterday. What a great sound the choir has when everyone is there! The anthem was well received and we’re all happy Kerri didn’t “choke” on her solo! (Pun definitely intended!) Really, the solo was nice.
We’ll be working on Bless the Lord My Soul for this upcoming Sunday morning. I also have plans for the Handbells and children to perform this Sunday as well.
Have a great start to the week, and I’ll see you all on Wednesday evening!

WOW! THE BEST EASTER WE’VE EVER HAD! What glorious Holy Week services we had here at Bethesda. A great big thanks to everyone who participated in any of these services and to all of you who attended. The Maundy Thursday Service was very meaningful especially with the re-enactment of the Last Supper. The Good Friday Service touched all of our hearts. Thank you to the Ladies for preparing a wonderful lunch. Then the Drama Department did an outstanding job on the Sunrise Easter Service. Thanks to the Men for the delicious pancake and sausage breakfast. The Easter Morning Worship was great with the help of the Music Department: Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, and the Cherub Choir. Our total attendance was 494. Next year we are going to hit that 500 mark! Again thank you to everyone and I pray that your heart was touched and you received a blessing from these special services. John

Hello everyone!
First off, I have to say thank you to everyone who was in the choir today for the traditional service! I truly think we sounded our best this morning and on such a glorious day! It was fabulous having almost everyone present and singing their hearts out!
I’m sure all in the choir and handbells will be happy to know that there won’t be any other rehearsal conflicts on Wednesday evenings until I have to leave for the summer, which after this morning will be hard! We will work on music for Easter Sunday Wednesday evening. In addition to the Chancel choir singing on Sunday, the handbells and cherub choir are also going to participate in the Easter Service.
I would like to meet with the children at 9:45 on Sunday morning in the Sanctuary to practice before the service. Katie, please let me know if this is a possibility. Thanks!
I hope everyone has a great start to the week and I will see you guys on Wednesday!

Now that Bethesda’s new website has been running for a while, I thought I’d offer some thoughts on how we can all get the most out of it. First, let me thank everyone who has contributed to the website so far. We have had so many people add news items, pictures, videos and suggestions for things to put on the website, it’s really been amazing. This brings me to my first point- Click here to continue reading

Hello everyone! This is just a reminder that we are having choir practice this evening at the church from 6:30 to 8:00. We will also have handbells directly after! I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start, and I’ll see you all tonight!

Music Update 3/15/10
Mar 15
Hello All!
I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start! Thanks to everyone who was present yesterday at the 11:00 worship service. The anthem went very well, despite the fact we weren’t planning on singing it! Unfortunately our guest soloist lost his voice and wasn’t able to sing.
I wanted to write and remind everyone about the schedule changes to rehearsals for the next couple of weeks for Chancel Choir and handbells. I apologize for the confusion this might cause because of earlier emails about this week’s schedule. We won’t be able to have rehearsal this Wednesday evening, and both Chancel Choir and Handbells will meet on Tuesday of next week instead of Wednesday.
We will practice the Call to Worship and Choral Benediction for this Sunday on Sunday morning at 10:30 in the choir room. Skip is planning on singing a solo this Sunday, so we will all be looking forward to hearing that! The following Sunday is Palm Sunday and we have been preparing music that we can rehearse on Tuesday of next week. There is a total of three anthems for that Sunday that can be used throughout the service. Also, please don’t forget to put the Maundy Thursday service on your calendar as well! The chancel choir will also sing at that service.
I’m planning on having the Chancel Choir, Cherub Choir, and handbells all participate in the traditional service on Easter Sunday! We are preparing 2 anthems and a call to worship for the choir to sing. The handbells and cherub choir have also been preparing music for the Easter service, which I’m looking forward to!
If possible and needed, we can have a saturday rehearsal before Easter Sunday on the 3rd of April. If you would like to have this extra rehearsal, go ahead and post a comment on this post saying whether or not you’re in!
Have a great week!
Brock

Music Update for 2/15 – 2/21
Feb 15
Hello everyone!
Thanks to all who participated in the music for the 11:00 service yesterday! The handbells and choir both sounded beautiful. Also, thanks to Alisha for singing Holy Ground before the message.
The choir will be singing at the Ash Wednesday service this week at 6:45. This is a different time than we discussed yesterday morning, so please take note of that. Let’s plan on meeting at 6:15 to go over what we will be singing for the service. Also, we will have a short choir rehearsal after the service in order to prepare for this upcoming Sunday. I’d say around 30 minutes or so.
Since we are having a late choir practice and the handbells just performed yesterday, we will not have handbell rehearsal this Wednesday. We will resume practice next Wednesday.
I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start, and I look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday evening!

Music Update 2/8/10
Feb 8
Hello everyone. Thanks to all who sang in yesterday’s traditional service. I kept singing all the way “Until I Reach-a Mah Home.” Sorry………….couldn’t resist.
We will have our regularly scheduled rehearsals this week for Chancel Choir and Handbells after Wednesday night’s supper.
The plan is for the Choir to sing “Surely the Presence of the Lord is In This Place,” and for the handbells to play the Call to Worship and the Offertory for this upcoming sunday. We will also start working on music for the easter services.
We have an Ash Wednesday service next Wednesday evening so we will not have rehearsals. It would be nice to have the choir sing something at that service, so let’s all plan on being there next Wednesday.
I hope everyone’s week is off to a great start, and I’ll see you guys on Wednesday evening!
