Bethesda’s Homecoming 2010

On Sunday, August 15, we at Bethesda had our annual homecoming celebration.  Thanks go out to the Laymen Quartet and the Chancel Choir for providing the music.  Our former youth pastor, David Walters, was welcomed back to give the sermon.  Finally, we enjoyed a terrific potluck lunch, thanks to the hospitality committee and everyone who brought the delicious food.

Picnic Pictures

Bethesda’s annual church picnic was held this past Sunday at the Benefield farm.  The weather was beautiful, the food was terrific, and the location can’t be beat.  A big thanks goes out to the Benefield and Davis families for letting us share in this wonderful experience on their farm.  Thanks too to everyone who brought food and drinks, and helped with the set up and clean up.  Here are a few pictures showing what a great time we all had.

Annual UMM Mother’s Day Dinner

A great big thank you to the United Methodist Men for sponsoring the Annual Mother’s Day Steak Dinner on May 8th. We had a good crowd and the entertainment was great. Bob Luth headed up this project and did a great job. Each lady in attendance received a box of chocolates and gifts were given to Syble Hunt for having the most (9) children/grandchildren after a tie breaker between she and Shirley Wilder who also has 9 children/grandchildren. Kelly Horton received the gift for having the youngest child. There was another tie breaker for the oldest Mother in attendance between Cleo Foxworth and Louise Wiley with Cleo being the winner because of her birth month.   Be sure to check out the pictures on the website.

Epworth By the Sea!

One of my most favaorite spots in Georgia is our United Methodist Center, Epworth by the Sea on St. Simons Island.  Bethesda’s Best would like to sponsor a site-seeing, historical tour of St. Simons Island and center.  The date is October 4th – 7th, 2010.  We’ve got the prices of the room very reasonable and we are working on the transportation (28 passenger chartered bus).  Would you like to go?  Please let John and Athel know at the office ASAP!  (We already have 10 people interested).  Let’s fill the bus up!  Sign up now!

Block Party in Your Neighborhood

We are having great success with our Block Parties.  Thank you to Al Hombroek for cooking and to Bob Luth and David and Carrie Long for allowing us to use their yards for the two we have had thus far.  Our next one is scheduled for Saturday, April 24th.  We need a place to have this.  All we need is for someone to volunteer for us to use their yard (about 15 feet of space).  Al brings his portable grill and does the cooking.  The church provides the food.  John visits the neighborhood the Wednesday before the scheduled date and passes out invitations.  If you can help us out by allowing us to use your front yard, please contact the church office.  Thank you in advance!

Easter Eggstravaganza Pictures

Wow!  How about that Easter Eggstravaganza we had in the Fellowship Hall yesterday!  A big thanks to Miss Katie and all the volunteers who made this such a fun event.  Here are some of the pictures that were taken.  If you took pictures as well, add them to the Easter Eggstravaganza 2010 set on our Flickr.com account and they will show up here.

If you might be willing to help, please let me know! Just e-mail me at katieatcheson {at} bethesdaunited(.)org if you could help out! THANK YOU!!!

Santa with satisfied customers

Santa Claus came to town a few days early to meet the good girls and boys of Bethesda.   Everyone had a smile on their face in the Fellowship Hall this past Saturday night.  Kris Kringle invited the young and young at heart to have a seat on his lap and tell him their Christmas wishes.  Mrs. Claus was there too.  Be sure to check out the slideshow on the picture page for more pictures.  Many thanks to the United Methodist Men for providing the hamburger supper.  We look forward to Santa’s return on Christmas Eve.  Thanks, Santa!
